adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Flap has found a home! His story: Flap is an absolute stunner: His fur is deep black, but his white paw tips look as though he had carefully dipped them in a bowl of milk. His unique trademark are his large erect ears, which seem to act like a real feelings radar—always ready to catch new adventures or subtle flattery. Simply adorable and sweet! At his estimated 4 months old, Flap is in the sweetest puppy phase! Currently measuring about 37–40 cm, he is likely to grow into a medium to large male dog—optically a potential, great guard dog mix. He gets along well with other dogs, but whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. Flap and his siblings seem not to have had an easy start in life. Now they are safe and waiting to be seen. Typical of his start in life, Flap initially appears a bit shy. But who has patience will be richly rewarded: Once the ice is broken, he warms up and comes to you joyfully, enjoys cuddles, and loves being held. He is more of a quiet puppy boy, which might indicate that his previous life wasn't entirely easy. This initial reticence requires extra positive reinforcement, gentle confrontation with the world, and lots of security through his new human family during the puppy phase. Anyone adopting Flap should be aware that soon the exciting but also challenging puberty will be knocking at the door! This will be the time of "wild thoughts in his head," occasional "deafness," and testing boundaries. As a potential guard dog mix, Flap likely comes with high intelligence and the desire for meaningful mental stimulation. He will want to be both physically and mentally challenged—ideally with dog-appropriate head work, hide-and-seek games, or perhaps even sports activities later on that befit his heritage. We are looking for people who want to show Flap with love and consistency the big, wide world. He needs a stable, patient home that gives him time to completely shed his shyness and masters the challenges of puppyhood and puberty with humor and understanding. Can you show Flap how beautiful and exciting a safe dog life can be? Flap travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. His EU pet passport is also in his luggage. Available for adoption after a positive review. Also, a foster home would be a great start! Thank you, Fynn, for giving the sweet Flap a name and paving the way to a happy dog life. As of October 22.

Stand: 22.10.2025

About Flap

What life with Flap looks like

Flap is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flap, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flap?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flap on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flap if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flap already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flap isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flap and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
