Flash

English Bulldog · Male · Senior · 10 years

Flash was taken from the Animal Welfare Office. Unfortunately, he likely became blind due to an untreated eye disease. In addition, he is positive for Ehrlichiosis and leishmaniasis. Currently, he is in treatment and requires about 10 doses of eye drops daily. This is a tremendous effort for our caretakers. Whether Flash's eyes will need to be removed will be decided after the treatment. As one can see from his body structure, Flash unfortunately is a real suffering. His body causes him pain and he is currently on pain medication. Flash is an incredibly loving and gentle dog who bears every treatment with angelic patience. While other dogs might be drawn to him due to his sympathetic nature, he is generally well-tempered. Larger children who take his disability into consideration are also no problem. When playing with him, one must be a bit cautious, as it can happen that he does not let go of what he catches and tends to overdo it. Flash needs a long period of adjustment, an elevator-free home, and people who are aware of what one must consider with a blind dog. He struggles greatly with new environments, so regular changes at home should be avoided. If a dog is already at home, it should be deeply relaxed and able to handle a lot, as Flash will of course also bump into things due to his blindness. For Flash, we are looking for understanding people who, ideally, already have experience with blind dogs.

DE·Show original

About Flash

What life with Flash looks like

Flash is a senior english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Nürnberg in Nuremberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flash, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flash?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Nürnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flash on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flash if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Nürnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flash already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flash isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Nürnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flash and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
