Flipper

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

We visited the LIDA shelter in late August/early September 2026, where we were already expected. There were some new arrivals that we wanted to meet. Among the new arrivals was this trio. The puppies were found by tourists in the countryside and brought to the shelter. Of course, everything was done at the shelter to nurture the then approximately 2-month-old puppies, as they were, as you can imagine, in no good condition. We were very happy to meet the three beautiful and lovable girl dogs, who had developed well. It was only after our photo session that we found out that there was a fourth little sister, but she was currently in quarantine at the Ambulatorio. We asked again and again in the weeks, when we were already back in Germany, how the little girl would be doing. She had been significantly weaker and thinner than her siblings Flash, Foxi, and Fusi when she arrived and, as we were told, simply needed special care and attention. And now finally - it's now October - pictures of the little one have arrived, so that we can introduce Flipper here just like her siblings Flash, Foxi, and Fusi. As with all dogs at the shelter that we introduce, we naturally also hope for Flipper and her siblings that the shelter will only be a short stopover in their lives. Because - with all the good care - personal attention and individual support are missing. There are simply too many animals to care for daily, so there is not much more than a brief stroking in between. A family environment is therefore immensely important for further good development. That's why we hope that Flipper will also be able to start her journey to Germany soon, perhaps together with her sisters. Would you like to accompany the little lovable Flipper or one of her sisters as a foster home on the way to a good future? Or does Flipper warm your heart and you would like to take her in right away and give her the dream home forever? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and you are aware that an adoption not only brings a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We mediate nationwide. Your contact person for this

About Flipper

What life with Flipper looks like

Flipper is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flipper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flipper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flipper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flipper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Flipper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flipper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flipper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
