Floky

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Floky, a six-year-old German Shepherd, was part of a family with five young children. He was used to the hustle and bustle of family life and was a beloved family dog. However, when the family moved to a small apartment, there was no room for him. He was given to an 80-year-old woman who meant well, but couldn't provide him with the exercise and attention he needed. Instead, Floky roamed freely through the village, without any real human interaction. The woman sought advice from Joaquin, a dog trainer, who explained that Floky needed a lot of attention and physical activity. After two months, she realized she couldn't provide this and brought him to the animal shelter. Today, Floky is a loyal, obedient companion who longs for a human companion. He loves to work and learn new things, just like a German Shepherd should. In the shelter, he has bonded with his caregiver and would love to spend all day with her. Unfortunately, with 50 other dogs, this isn't possible, which is a challenge for him. After years of family life, Floky struggles with the shelter routine. His passion is playing with balls. As soon as one is thrown, he is fully engaged. He is the ideal partner for active people who want a companion to share hobbies with, whether it's jogging, hiking, or other outdoor activities. However, Floky is not just an energetic dog. He can relax and unwind at home. Whether with a single person or a family with children, Floky adapts well as long as he feels he belongs. He is looking for people who can give him attention, activity, and a permanent place in their lives. If you want a loyal, eager to learn, and loving Shepherd, Floky is a lifelong friend who is eagerly waiting to leave the shelter and come home.

© 2006-2026 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Floky

What life with Floky looks like

Floky is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Floky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Floky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Floky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Floky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Floky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Floky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Floky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
