Flopp

Male · Senior · 11 years

Flopp – born May 2015 – 268639 Birthdate: May 2015 Gets along with dogs: yes Children in the same household: possible calm teenagers Possible home: in the countryside The lovable, 2015-born male Shar-Pei dog Flopp is people-friendly – some men may bark at him once they get to know him better, but he is also affectionate and friendly. Flopp can be given to considerate teenagers – considerate because Flopp can react fearfully if something surprises him, as the lovable male dog is deaf. According to the previous owner, Flopp is compatible with other dogs, was also a second dog in his last home, and could spend some time alone. At our shelter, he shows curiosity and interest towards other dogs, as well as some intrusiveness. Flopp knows the harness, and the dear fellow still wants to learn to walk on a loose leash with reward-based training. In his last home, he was house-trained, but it doesn’t always work for us – he probably needs some time to adjust. Flopp is currently on grain-free food and medication for skin inflammation. Due to his deafness-related startle response, we are looking for a home in the countryside for Flopp.

Flopp – geb.

About Flopp

What life with Flopp looks like

Flopp is a small senior dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flopp, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flopp?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flopp on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flopp if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flopp already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flopp isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flopp and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
