Flora

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Breed: mixed-breed female dog Age: born ca. 2020 Hallöchen… I am Flóra… a big teddy bear on the lookout for my happiness… Our caretakers think I look like a big cuddly bear – because I am a beautiful female dog with fluffy blond fur and a sweet caramel-colored nose and charming eyes… Additionally, I am friendly, cuddly, and very enjoy the company of humans, cuddling for my life… Attention, cuddles, and quality time make me simply happy… I get along well with other dogs and love to play with them… When I’m not on the go or playing with my friends, I like to lie in the sun and take a nap, often in the funniest positions that make our caretakers giggle… Not long ago, I got to sniff the family air… but unfortunately, I don’t like being alone, then I don’t feel well, and that’s when it happened… swish and zap… I climbed over the fence… and that’s why they brought me back… Here at the animal shelter, I won’t do that… it probably has to do with having doggy friends here… so if you already have someone living with you who can teach me all the things dogs need, then nothing can go wrong… I was abandoned at the animal shelter and now I simply wish for a loving forever home… I wish for people who can give me security, show me with patience that being alone isn’t bad, and who can give me the time I need to settle in… For that, I will give you my heart, and you will get a loyal, loving companion by your side… Is that a deal…??? Maybe you are exactly the people I’ve been waiting for so long? I am looking forward to getting to know you! Greetings… Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my foster.

About Flora

What life with Flora looks like

Flora is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
