adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Flou has found his people! His story: The wonderful Flou currently lives in a foster home and is desperately searching for a new family! He forms a very strong bond with his people and always wants to do everything right. He is already learning to heel with the 1*1 and is house-trained. Originally, he came from Bistrita in Romania. His mother is a hunting dog with a beautiful black and white coat pattern, who was kept on a leash by her family. His father, likely a herding dog, is unknown. Flou is part of a colorful litter of puppies, his siblings are Joya, Pimboli, Flecki, Farcha, Mascha, Runa, Bamboo. Going for walks makes him very happy, he currently walks well on a long lead, but not so much on a regular short leash. Recall works quite well, sit and down also. He often accompanies his foster mom at farm work with the horses in the open stable. Flou is age-appropriate and very playful, on the farm he plays with the family dogs, where he also learns from them. He harmonizes well with male dogs. A calm, secure first-time dog, who gives him orientation, would be the ideal combination for him! He has already met chickens here, but they should be secured in front of him. He has no problems with calm cats that know dogs and do not run away. Flou is a very clingy, loving, and cuddly dog with his people, he learns quickly and is very sensitive. He is well-guided by his people. He forms trust with women faster than with men, and with some people, he keeps his distance. Flou is self-assured but cautious and vigilant. Driving is not yet his favorite discipline, it still needs to be practiced. Flou is currently 65 cm tall and weighs around 40 kg. Considering his herding dog genes, we are looking for a rural home with a large, fenced-in yard for him. He requires dog-experienced people with HSH experience. Herding dogs bring wonderful qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breeds, as they are despite their thick skulls very loyal and faithful companions. Flou is still a young dog and has a lot to learn. Attending dog training classes also belongs to that. Currently, Flou is in puberty. The hormone chaos is currently turning his life upside down. Young dogs in puberty often forget everything they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. Our Flou will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated for his new family. He brings his EU Companion Animal Passport with him and can be adopted after a positive home visit. Many thanks to Katja B.! Your sponsorship was the starting gun for a new life! Date: 25.06.

Stand: 25.06.2024

About Flou

What life with Flou looks like

Flou is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
