Fluffy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Beautiful Fluffy comes from Crete. Her foster mom writes to us: Fluffy is a stunningly beautiful cat and is currently in a foster home near Lüneburg. On Crete she lived together with 23 other cats in a house without outdoor access. After her owners abandoned the animals, they were suddenly left to fend for themselves and wandered from one animal shelter to the next, which had deeply traumatized Fluffy in particular. Meanwhile Fluffy has recovered and is healthy and full of life again, though with one limitation: she is so terribly afraid of other cats that in her foster home she simply hides in her cat basket as soon as other cats come around the corner. But as soon as they are shut out of her area and she is alone, she transforms into a happy, fluffy ball of fur, wants to romp and play, and follows her humans at heel! It's a miracle how this utterly solitary cat managed to survive so many years in the 23-cat household. In any case, she has not been happy so far, that much is clear. And this needs to change urgently, because Fluffy blossoms as soon as she is alone with her humans. She is initially skeptical of strangers, but once she has gained trust, she enjoys being petted, snuggles closely against her person, loves to romp for hours with her favorite cat wand toy, and feels especially content when she is allowed to sleep in bed with them at night. Little Fluffy wishes for nothing more than a safe forever home with one or two people who finally see and love her and never again have to fear "dreadful" fellow cats. Fluffy is of course microchipped, neutered, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, deflead, dewormed, and found healthy by a veterinarian. After her odyssey of the last few months, she is missing several teeth and one eye, but she has fully recovered from all of her surgeries.

About Fluffy

What life with Fluffy looks like

Fluffy is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fluffy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fluffy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fluffy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fluffy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fluffy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fluffy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fluffy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
