Flummi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Flummi has been jumping around since 2017 in his new home and is learning the basics of being a good dog. Good luck in his new home! ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….. My name is Flummi. I am male, neutered and born in 2016. I have been waiting for a new home since September 2016. I am about 35 cm tall. This is what my caregivers say about me: Flummi is an entry of the veterinary office and his name is true to its meaning. He loves a lot of activity and remains friendly even during his jumping fits. He came to us with a female dog, who will soon move to the new home as a second dog. Flummi is also compatible with other animals, although he barks at everything initially, as it is typical for his breed. He remains always manageable, with short, clear commands and a treat for motivation, Flummi can behave well right away. We are looking for an active home where he can learn to be housebroken, stand on all fours occasionally and other things that belong to the basics of being a good dog. With Flummi there will certainly be a lot of fun, cuddling should not be neglected either. He should attend dog training classes with his owners to be able to play with other dogs. We can also imagine Flummi in the field of dog sports, he can be rehomed as a second dog, and with some patience and practice, he can be well accustomed to other animals. Our Flummi is suitable as a beginner's dog, and he would gladly be rehomed into a family with children. A house with a garden would be nice, but is not a requirement if he is sufficiently occupied. Who wants to finally show our rubbery little guy the wide world and give him a great home ... ??? The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal can develop differently in its new home. Gets along with other dogs.

About Flummi

What life with Flummi looks like

Flummi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flummi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flummi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flummi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flummi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flummi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flummi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flummi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
