Forest

Male · Adult · 8 years

Forest is a cute, fluffy little one with short legs. He is white with gray stripes. What a honey-strawberry! Unfortunately, Forest probably hasn't had a very colorful life so far. He arrived at the animal shelter neglected, dirty, with a remaining chain attached to his neck... Initially, he was completely lost in the shelter's kennel - he was very shy and constantly looked for an opportunity to escape. Currently, Forest is doing much better - he likes walks, playing together, and being petted (although on his terms and only when he asks for it). He was even one of the celebrities of the Adopt a Warsaw Dog campaign and did very well! Forest is a bit of an introverted dog ;-) He feels comfortable with people he knows. He doesn't particularly like the company of other dogs, but can pass them calmly. We don't know his attitude towards cats. He is a calm dog who needs home peace, warmth, and love. We are asking for a home for this lovely senior! PL·Show original

Forest to uroczy, puchaty maluch na krótkich łapkach. Jest biały w grafitowe łaty. No cud-miód-malina! Niestety Forest nie miał raczej do tej pory zbyt kolorowo w życiu. Do Schroniska trafił zaniedbany, brudny, z resztką łańcucha przyczepionego do szyi… About Forest

What life with Forest looks like

Forest is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Forest, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Forest?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Forest on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Forest if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Forest already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Forest isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Forest and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
