FOSTER APPEAL

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Please help Marni by sharing this foster appeal! This is a temporary foster placement appeal for sweetie girl Marni, a 9-year-old Yellow Lab, currently in Perth, Scotland. Once assessed in foster, she will be then be available to adopt. A foster home within 3 hours' drive would be ideal, but there may be some flexibility for the perfect home. She'd rather have only grown ups at home and to be an only pet but she's fine with visiting older children and makes dog friends quite easily. She's a steady, happy lady. Her foster carers need to be experienced with largish dogs, preferably Labs in all their glory. Marni has previously lived happily with a Collie. Marni finds herself searching for a foster home simply because her family's own health issues mean they're not able to look after her any more. It's a gut-wrenching prospect for them, as she's had the same family her whole life, but they want her to have the quality of life she deserves. Marni is very affectionate at home and with people she knows outside. She can be wary of unknown men and unknown dogs but she will warm up to both and then it's love and fun all round. Marni is well-behaved in the home. If the doorbell goes, she will bark to alert you to it and will then want to make friends with any visitors. She'll do this by going off the find her favourite soft toy of the day to show it to them. She can be left for a couple of hours, once she knows the routine, and will also do the toy-showing-off greeting when you return! Marni is used to having visiting children of around the age of 10 and is absolutely fine. If she doesn't feel like interacting with them, she'll just take herself off for a bit of peace. She's also content with car rides. They often mean a nice explore outdoors which she loves! Can you spot Marni? Marni walks OK on a harness, but can be quite strong (typical Lab!) if she sees something that interests her. Wouldn’t suit a person with any kind of mobility issues. Her favourite activity is a bit of ball retrieval in a secure field. It really must be a secure field as her recall is a bit hit-and-miss, something she could do with a refresher course on. If she caught sight of some deer or similar when out and about, well, remember the YouTube phenomenon of Fenton the Lab? Nobody wants a repeat of that! Naturally, she needs a secure garden to potter about in at her leisure. In the home, if you pass her when she’s lying down she will go onto her back thinking she’s getting a belly rub. She loves a belly rub! Marni is vaccinated and microchipped. She's on a hypoallergenic diet but is otherwise a robust girl. She has previously needed medication for her ears and she has a pin in her hip from an injury sustained when she was about 2, but her mobility is completely normal. In fact, not just normal, but like everything about her… adorable! Although we are initially seeking a foster home, we would be very happy to hear from anyone wanting to foster Marni with a view to adopting her. Could you offer Marni a suitable home and all the belly rubs and walkies she seeks? —————————— If you could offer Marni a suitable foster home, within 3 hours of Perth*, please contact us ASAP, as follows: Email: Oldies Club will arrange transport to the foster home and will cover the cost of any medical care Marni need while she is in foster. About FOSTER APPEAL

What life with FOSTER APPEAL looks like

FOSTER APPEAL is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting FOSTER APPEAL, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about FOSTER APPEAL?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw FOSTER APPEAL on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt FOSTER APPEAL if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is FOSTER APPEAL already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if FOSTER APPEAL isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know FOSTER APPEAL and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
