Maak kennis met Fotoulis! Fotoulis is een Griekse verkleinvorm, afgeleid van de naam Fotis, wat afkomstig is van het Griekse woord ‘phos’, wat “licht” betekent. Hij werd in 2024 gevonden in Athene. Dit was in een erg drukke kolonie in een buurt met veel verkeer. Hij wist te overleven ondanks zijn blindheid. Na zijn redding paste hij zich heel snel aan, aan zijn nieuwe omgeving. Hij verblijft momenteel in een gastgezin. Hier is hij probleemloos gesocialiseerd met veel andere katten. Ondanks zijn blindheid is Fotoulis vaak de eerste die veranderingen in zijn omgeving opmerkt en onderzoekt. Dit laat zien hoe goed hij heeft geleerd zich met zijn andere zintuigen door de wereld te bewegen. Zijn blindheid beïnvloedt vooral zijn zelfvertrouwen bij menselijke aanraking. Hij kan in het begin aarzelend reageren op fysiek contact, totdat hij zich veilig voelt en begint te ontspannen. Zodra er vertrouwen is opgebouwd wordt hij veel meer op zijn gemak. Fotoulis kan in een gezin met katten worden geplaatst. Het is onbekend hoe hij op kinderen en/of honden reageert. Dit zou uitgetest moeten worden. Fotoulis wordt alleen als binnenkat geplaatst.
