Franky

Greyhound · Male · Senior · 20 years

Ideal Home: Suitable for first time owners, resident children 7+ Meet Franky – A Little Hound with a Big Heart At just 2 years old, Franky is still very much a baby, with his whole life ahead of him and so much love to give to the right family. Franky is a smaller male greyhound with a beautiful, glossy black coat and the sweetest nature. He's an affectionate, cuddly little man who enjoys spending time with people and has a playful side, too – he likes his toys and is sure to bring plenty of charm to his new home! Franky is a sensitive soul who can be a little unsure of himself when away from the familiarity of his kennel surroundings. He's well-mannered on his lead, though, and with gentle encouragement, patience and reassurance, we hope he'll grow in confidence as he discovers all the wonderful things life as a pet has to offer. A home with another greyhound may help him with this. His sweet nature and willingness to learn could make Franky a lovely choice for first-time greyhound owners, provided they're happy to take things at his pace and help him feel safe and secure in the big, wide world. He doesn't need to be rushed; he needs someone who understands that confidence takes time to grow and that the smallest steps forward are worth celebrating. Franky is a recent arrival at Crossing Cottage, so we're still getting to know him and discovering more about his individual personality. He's also currently recovering from a broken leg, so he'll need the appropriate care, rest and guidance during his recovery before he can fully embrace his new adventures. For now, this gorgeous boy deserves a little extra TLC while he heals, learns to trust his new surroundings and gets ready for the next chapter of his life. Could you be Franky's person? If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly young companion and have the patience to help a sensitive little hound find his feet, Franky could be the perfect addition to your family. His story is only just beginning, and we can't wait to see him blossom in a home of his own. ❤️ Please contact us to find out more about Franky. Special Needs

About Franky

What life with Franky looks like

Franky is a large senior greyhound dog waiting at Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary (RGT East Midlands) in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Franky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Franky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary (RGT East Midlands) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Franky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Franky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary (RGT East Midlands) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Franky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Franky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary (RGT East Midlands) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Franky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
