Fräulein Rottenmeier

Female · Adult · 5 years

Fräulein Rottenmeier came to our shelter with six other rabbits. A total of twelve rabbits were abandoned. Since our capacity is currently fully utilized, we were able to transfer six animals to friendly animal welfare associations. We are very grateful for this support. All the group's rabbits tested positive for Encephalitozoon cuniculi (E. cuniculi). A positive test does not necessarily mean that an animal is sick or will ever develop symptoms. Nevertheless, future owners should be informed about this finding and familiarize themselves with the disease. Since the does may have been pregnant when they were taken in, we are keeping a 31-day waiting period before they can move to a new home. However, interested parties are welcome to contact us now. Fräulein Rottenmeier is a friendly, confident and strong-willed doe. She knows what she wants and would appreciate a socially secure, rather quiet and not too dominant companion animal that meets her on an equal footing without constantly taking the lead. As with any rabbit socialization, however, it ultimately depends on the animals' sympathy. Currently, Fräulein Rottenmeier lives alone due to space constraints. The existing accommodation does not provide enough space for a species-appropriate grouping. We would therefore like her to have a spacious, well-structured enclosure with enough room to run, hop and explore, as well as at least one suitable companion by her side.

About Fräulein Rottenmeier

What life with Fräulein Rottenmeier looks like

Fräulein Rottenmeier is a large adult rabbit waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fräulein Rottenmeier, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fräulein Rottenmeier?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fräulein Rottenmeier on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fräulein Rottenmeier if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fräulein Rottenmeier already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fräulein Rottenmeier isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fräulein Rottenmeier and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
