Adopt Freddie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

♂, born ca. 10-11/2024kinderlieb - shy - socialized Bulgarien Freddie is a mixed-breed male dog born in ca. 10-11/2024, standing at a shoulder height of ca. 50 cm. Freddie and his brother Franjo are two of the found and secured puppies in the intake station by our Bulgarian animal welfare colleague in Sofia/Bulgarien. Like so often, they are left to die, eaten, or intentionally run over at the city cemetery, the general disposal place for unwanted animals. The handsome and bashful Freddie shows a very people-oriented behavior towards those he knows, also adores children, is friendly but shy, plays, frolics, and runs with his fellow animals, whether female or male dogs, through the run, then takes a nap. Freddie of course still needs the puppy class with patience, calmness, and positive reinforcement; he would love to be in a dog training class where he can have fun with his peers and make connections. It is likely that Freddie would not feel well and safe in the city center, too much hustle and bustle, too many people, too much noise. A garden would naturally be a dream for him, preferably with a only social dog he can orient himself to. For those who are aware of the responsibility and do not want to abandon Freddie in outdoor or kennel housing but want him to be part of family life 100%, where he is always a valued family member. At first, he will be a bit unsure about everything new, but with the right support and age-appropriate stimulation, Freddie will develop into a great lifelong friend. Freddie is ready to start his new home. Freddie is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and comes with a Snap-4-D test. He is in an intake station in Sofia/Bulgarien. The adoption fee for Freddie is 460. Do you want to give Freddie a suitable home? Then please contact us via our following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix. About Freddie

What life with Freddie looks like

Freddie is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
