Freddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

A lovable, friendly and social male dog named Freddy was found alone on the streets in Bulgaria around November 2024. He is a mixed breed approximately 11/2024 born with a shoulder height of about 45-50 cm and weighs 17 kg. We do not know where he lived before, but we do know that Freddy has retained his kindness. He is a dog who approaches people despite everything and just wants to belong. Freddy shows himself very social and tolerant. He meets other dogs friendly and seeks contact rather than conflict. He is also approachable, loving and gentle towards humans - one of those dogs where you immediately feel: "You just want to arrive." He enjoys attention, likes to be stroked and is happy about every small attention as if it were something very special. Because Freddy is still young, he naturally brings curiosity and energy with him. He wants to discover the world, travel together, learn and experience. At the same time, he needs people who give him security, lovingly guide him and show him how everyday life in a home works. A calm environment, clear structures and patient accompaniment help him to quickly settle in and build trust further. We wish Freddy a home where he is not "running alongside" but can really be part of the family. People who have time for him, who are enthusiastic about joint walks, small training sessions and lots of closeness. A confident first dog would certainly not be a problem - on the contrary, that could even give Freddy additional orientation. Freddy has so much love to give. Now he only needs what he hasn't had before: a safe place where he can stay. Who gives this wonderful young male his forever home and shows him that his life will get better from now on? Freddy is vaccinated, neutered, chipped and tested with a Snap-4-D test. He is in a shelter in Sofia/Bulgaria. The deposit for Freddy is 480 euros. Do you want to give Freddy a suitable home? About Freddy

What life with Freddy looks like

Freddy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
