Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Fredo was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau. We’re overjoyed that he was able to leave that place, because animals are still being euthanized there today. Yet, we don’t want him to stay with us forever either. After all, Fredo wishes for nothing more than his very own family. At about 38–40 cm tall at the shoulder, Fredo is rather small. Visually, with his short legs, long floppy ears, and friendly face, he resembles a Dachshund-Beagle mix. Of course, we can’t confirm whether this assumption is correct—but what’s certain is that Fredo immediately wins hearts with his charming appearance and open gaze. But it’s not just his looks that are enchanting. Above all, Fredo impresses with his character. He proves to be a calm, well-balanced, and exceptionally friendly young dog. He approaches people openly and affectionately, enjoys attention, and allows himself to be handled easily. He also gets along well with other dogs, meeting them in a friendly and social manner. Of course, given his young age, Fredo still has plenty of learning potential ahead of him. Life in a family, joint outings, the basics of dog training, and many new experiences are all waiting for him. Yet with his open-minded and relaxed nature, he brings the best prerequisites to master all of this together with his people. For the handsome Fredo, we’re therefore looking for people who’ll welcome him into their family and show him—with love, patience, and consistency—what a happy dog life can be like. He’d probably also enjoy visiting a positively oriented dog school. Fredo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has an EU pet passport and, after a positive pre-check, can move into his new home against a protection fee. Have you ever experienced love at first sight? With Fredo, we wouldn’t be surprised. Thanks to Monika C. for your sponsorship of his name. You’ve not only given Fredo a cute name but also a real chance at a better life. Many thanks! As of: July 19, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank! About Fredo

What life with Fredo looks like

Fredo is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fredo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fredo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fredo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fredo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fredo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fredo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fredo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
