Adopt Frieda und Konrad

Female · Adult · 4 years

Hello there and two very friendly meows—we’re Frieda und Konrad, a sweet and adorable pair of cats, just 4 years old. We arrived together at the animal shelter because conditions in our old home sadly weren’t very nice. At first, everything here felt very unfamiliar to us, but in the end, it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. Meow! By now, we both live in the cat house and are warming up more and more each day. You see, I—Frieda—was initially a bit more reserved than my dearest, best friend Konrad. Carefully, I watched what happened when he happily ran up to the petting aunts, purred, and let himself be stroked. Hmm… that couldn’t be so bad. So now I’m bravely giving it a try too—I enjoy being stroked and am starting to really like it, even if not quite as enthusiastically as Konrad yet. But everyone here says that will come quickly once we’re in our new home—and if they say so, it must be true! Meow! Since we’ve never experienced outdoor access before, we’d be perfectly happy in a lovely apartment with kind people. A balcony would of course be wonderful, and older children might suit us well too. Plus, a small variety of tasty food—after all, who wants to eat the same thing every single day? But most importantly for us is that we stay together. We’re deeply attached to each other, and neither of us wants to be without the other.

About Frieda und Konrad

What life with Frieda und Konrad looks like

Frieda und Konrad is a adult cat waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frieda und Konrad, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frieda und Konrad?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frieda und Konrad on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frieda und Konrad if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frieda und Konrad already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frieda und Konrad isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frieda und Konrad and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
