Adopt Frits

Podenco · Male · Senior · 10 years

This is Frits… And what a heartbreaking life this old boy has had.Frits was found on the streets by one of our volunteers. His ears had been cruelly cut off. He was covered in flies and ticks, and his wounds were severely infected. He was extremely thin, frightened, and completely exhausted. But despite everything, he kept searching…Searching for someone to help him.Searching for warmth, love, and food. And look at him now… Just a few weeks later, Frits has completely recovered. His wounds have healed, and little by little, he is learning to enjoy life again. He finally feels safe. We can now see the sweet and gentle dog that was hidden behind all that pain and suffering.Frits already walks beautifully on a leash and shares his kennel with two female dogs, which is going wonderfully. He does not ask for much in life… only a soft bed, loving hands, and a home where he can spend his final years surrounded by love. For this special old boy, we are searching for a loving forever home where he will never again have to experience pain, hunger, or fear. Who will give Frits the warmth and love he truly deserves?

About Frits

What life with Frits looks like

Frits is a large senior podenco dog waiting at PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter in Spain.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frits, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frits?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frits on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frits if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frits already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frits isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frits and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
