Adopt Fritzi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 10 years

After three years of waiting in vain, Fritzi was rehomed as a second cat to Eilenburg after a television appearance on Tierisch tierisch on April 23, 2016. Because the stress at the animal shelter last year affected her greatly, it is now all about pampering, cuddling, and lots of love...The owner was excited and promised it firmly!!!! ………………………………………………………………………………… My name is Fritzi. I am female, spayed, and born around 2011. I have been waiting for a new home since March 2012. This is what my caregivers say about me: Fritzi came to us as a stray cat and is naturally a bit insecure. Even though we had no problems handling her during the quarantine period, she is rather shy and reserved in the adoption room and is therefore naturally overlooked. We think it's too stressful for her here and she needs a quieter environment in a household where she can relax and build a bond calmly, because she isn't really shy. As a second cat, she is suitable, she has no problems with other animals. With the appropriate space, this is certainly no problem. In the meantime, Fritzi is a snuggling cat who only wants cuddles and to lie around comfortably. Fritzi should still be placed with more experienced cat owners in a quiet environment, who can show her that human proximity is not a threat and give her security. Until Fritzi gets settled and comes to cuddle on her own, she should live in a place suitable for apartment living, so she doesn't get scared and panic and run away. She is easily bribed with food and if you give her time, she will surely quickly trust her humans. eMail:

About Fritzi

What life with Fritzi looks like

Fritzi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fritzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fritzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fritzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fritzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fritzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fritzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fritzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
