Adopt Frumos

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Frumos was taken in by a sanctuary! His story: Baia Mare, Romania Frumos means "beautiful" in Romanian and that's exactly what he embodies! He was brought to the Public Shelter in Baia Mare by the dog catchers, and no one has come to claim him. We can imagine that his past life on the darker side has left its mark, as he appears neglected and undernourished. Frumos's teeth are in a poor condition for his age, and it seems he can no longer see well. But here at the Public Shelter, Frumos is just one of many homeless dogs, and he should only stay here as long as absolutely necessary. The poor fellow needs a lot of care, stimulation, and affection, which he likely won't receive in the shelter. That's why Frumos was photographed and posted on this page, to give him a new, better chapter in his life. At around 10 years old, our Frumos is already a bit of an older companion, but he's definitely not done yet and still wants to be part of the action. Our Opi, standing at around 65 cm shoulder height, is already one of the larger dogs. He has the typical Malinois blonde fur with a dark facial mask and with his black-rimmed eyes and loyal gaze, he looks straight into the heart of every animal-loving person. Despite his tough past, he hasn't lost his faith in people. He behaves very friendly and attentive, loves treats, and enjoys being petted. It seems Frumos once had an owner, as he accepts a leash and harness and responds to visual commands in the shelter. His compatibility with other animals of both genders is exemplary. Perhaps Frumos hasn't heard about the rules for a life as a house dog yet. But we assume that with lots of loving consistency and reinforcement of desired behavior, he will learn everything quickly, as Frumos is very eager to learn and motivated, even at his age. After an adjustment period, a visit to a positively working dog training class would contribute to giving the active male dogs even more security and stability and to strengthen the bond to their new people. We wish engaged and dog-experienced adopters for Frumos, who will give him enough time to adjust to his new living situation. It is to be expected that Frumos will also develop typical Malinois traits once he is properly settled in. Malinois are loyal and very attached companions who, however, require a lot of physical and mental stimulation even into old age. Frumos's new people should therefore have plenty of time for cuddles and mental stimulation with him and stand by him as a strong and consistent partner. Frumos can immediately travel to his new home with an EU pet passport, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. We thank the namingsponsor Martina H. for giving Frumos his name and thus his own identity. Many thanks to Wilhelm B.! You support Frumos with a monthly sponsorship!

Vielen Dank Wilhelm B.! Du unterstützt Frumos mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft!

About Frumos

What life with Frumos looks like

Frumos is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frumos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frumos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frumos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frumos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frumos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frumos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frumos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
