We could live as indoor only cats or have access to outdoors. If indoors, we will need lots of enrichment and if going outside, we will need to be kept in for at least 8 weeks while we settle into our new home. Hi everyone, we’re Fuji and Benji! We arrived at the sanctuary separately but over the past few months have formed a lovely bond and are the best of frenemies, erm we mean friends haha! We do love each other lots and are like brothers, we really were meant to be together! However, we also plan each other’s demise on a daily basis, which usually consists of 27½ play fights a day (the half being a sleepy one just after a nap!)I (Fuji) was brought to the sanctuary when I was found stray outside, I was only a few months old. I (Benji) was taken in from a home. Unfortunately, when I was only 3 weeks old, my owner asked their friend to look after me, and sadly never came back for me! Thankfully, I was with a lovely family who raised me into a beautiful healthy boy, but they weren’t able to keep me long-term so I cam here. It was clear that we were both missing the company of another young cat to play with and learn from. I (Benji) had been an only cat since I was 3 weeks old, which was evident in my behaviour, the humans don’t know my (Fuji’s) story, but I showed all of the same frustration behaviours as Benji. We would be quite rough with the humans, biting them and jumping up at hands. Our carer knew that we both needed the company of a cat similar to us, and we really were the perfect match! We have the same energy level and both love to rough play with each other. Our carer says that she doesn’t think many other cats would be okay with how we play with each other, but we both love attacking each other and that’s all that matters.I (Benji) am a sweet, cuddly boy who loves to be picked up and carried like a baby. My brother Fuji is a bit more independent, he does still like fuss, attention and the occasional pick up, but will grumble at the humans if he wants to be left alone. He isn’t nasty but does make some strange noises, which I don’t think I’ve ever made in my whole life! I don’t even know how to growl! But I’ve been told to say that he is just as sweet as me (pfft), he just only wants affection when he decides, whereas I want it ALL the time!

About Fuji & Benji

What life with Fuji & Benji looks like

Fuji & Benji is a very small young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Wythall Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fuji & Benji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fuji & Benji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wythall Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fuji & Benji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fuji & Benji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wythall Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fuji & Benji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fuji & Benji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wythall Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fuji & Benji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
