Adopt Gadułek

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Unfortunately, the family that adopted Gadułek did not follow the recommendations of the animal shelter staff and behaviorist. November 8, 2024. I went with my dream caregiver to a new home in Zabrze :-) July 2, 2024. Hello, I'm Gadułek! I was born in January 2023 and I arrived at the animal shelter on November 15, 2023, as part of an intervention. I am a young, energetic puppy who loves movement and exploring the world. I do everything while running, because it's a waste of time to stop - life is so interesting! At the animal shelter I learned to walk nicely on a leash, and then I can even walk calmly. My favorite game is scent work. My shelter mom often scatters treats in the grass, and I happily sniff them all out and eat them. I love sausages, although my mom says they are unhealthy - but that's my favorite snack! However, I am a dog who needs time, patience and the right approach. I can be shy towards strangers. When I don't know someone, I hide and bark to show that I'm scared. If however, a person shows that they are friendly, I try to be nice and make contact with them. New places still scare me - it's a big challenge for me. On known routes I move with my tail up, but when I feel uncertain, I tuck it under me. I am polite towards other dogs, if they are also friendly. On July 2, 2024, I had a chance for a new home in Zabrze. I went there full of hope and joy. Unfortunately, the caregivers did not follow the recommendations of the animal shelter staff and behaviorist, which resulted in me returning to the animal shelter on November 8, 2024. It was a very difficult experience for me and unfortunately affected my behavior. After returning to the animal shelter, I became more stressed and withdrawn, and my distrust of people deepened. Now I am looking for a caregiver who will approach me with great patience and be ready to work with a behaviorist to help me rebuild trust and confidence. I need time to trust, but once that happens, you'll have a loyal friend for life. I am microchipped, vaccinated, spayed and neutered. I dream of a home where I can feel safe and find joy in life. Can I count on you?

8.11.2024Pojechałem z wymarzonym opiekunem do nowego domku w Zabrzu :-) 2.07.2024Cześć, jestem Gadułek! Moja schroniskowa mama często rozsypuje mi smakołyki w trawie, a ja z radością je wszystkie wywęszam i zjadam. W stosunku do obcych ludzi bywam nieśmiały. Pojechałem tam pełen nadziei i radości. Jestem odrobaczony, zaszczepiony, zaczipowany i wykastrowany. Marzę o domu, w którym będę mógł poczuć się bezpiecznie i odnaleźć radość w życiu. Czy mogę liczyć na Ciebie?

About Gadułek

What life with Gadułek looks like

Gadułek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gadułek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gadułek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gadułek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gadułek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gadułek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gadułek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gadułek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
