Gaja

Female · Kitten · 11 months

This little kitten is Gaja ❤️, beloved, gentle kitten❤️ She came to us from the street together with her brother Milusie. Both kittens had advanced cat flu, Gaja worse. The little one is already cured, but she has adhesions - the conjunctiva is partially adhered to the cornea, Gaja also has a prominent third eyelid. The "defect" is mainly cosmetic, as Gaja has retained 70% of her visual field and just sees well. The condition is not surgical (according to the ophthalmologist, detaching the adhesions would be risky and not very beneficial). So Gai will just stay like this. It doesn't bother the little one at all in cat games, chasing balls and throwing mice, as well as chasing her brother and climbing wherever possible ❤️. She is just a very young, active kitten who loves to play and doesn't know that she supposedly has some "defect"❤️. Gaja really loves toys, she never gets bored with them. Looking at her, full of enthusiasm and tirelessly pawing at the ball, we think she was lucky that she's not stuck on the street… Gajunia is a shy kitten, needs time to trust new people. Right now, she tends to avoid direct contact with humans. We are working on this with the help of a behaviorist, but it's possible that Gajka would achieve better results and faster in a home environment. Her socialization would require her human to have some time and patience.

Ta mała koteczka to Gaja ❤️ , kochany, łagodny kotek❤️ Trafiła do nas z ulicy razem z bratem Milusiem. Obydwa kociaki miały zaawansowany koci katar, Gaja gorszy. Stan jest nieoperacyjny (zdaniem okulisty odpreparowywanie zrostów byłoby ryzykowne i niewiele by wniosło).

About Gaja

What life with Gaja looks like

Gaja is a small puppy/kitten cat waiting at Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań in Poznań.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
