GANDALF

Mixed Breed · Male

Location: in Gröbenzell Born: 01/2018 Gender: male Character: prefers a more calm, quiet catVideo impressions of GANDALF: IBI..10.02.2026ND..10.02.2026SINGLE-HOME WITH OUTDOOR ACCESS POSSIBLE!01.03.2026Gandalf has been living on a foster home in Germany for several weeks now. He needed some time to adjust to the new people and impressions after the move. Day by day, he became more open and approached his foster parents to get cuddles. He has truly become a big cuddler and a wonderful companion for home office or on the couch in the evening. The only thing GANDALF still hasn't adapted to well are the other cats on the foster home. He tolerates them and can live alongside them, but it's clear that many cats overwhelm him and that he is only truly happy with his people. We would therefore either place him as a single prince with secure outdoor access or alternatively with a quiet female cat that has a similar character. He would be happy to meet you. He looks forward to your visit!15.02.2026This noble gentleman is named GANDALF. A few days ago, he moved from Spain to a foster home in Germany, where he is getting better and better settled day by day. However, it is clear that he recently lost his home. His family no longer wanted him after 8 years, so he had to go to an animal shelter. Fortunately, our colleague in Spain still had a free foster spot, so he could at least be placed in an apartment quickly. Gandalf's story deeply moved us, so he could travel directly to us in Germany with the next transport. At first, he didn't want to eat much and was very withdrawn, as he had to process all the moves. But after a few days, the world looked different. He actively seeks contact, meows like a small drill when he wants something (for food or cuddles), and likes to lie with his foster parents when they have to work at the computer. We wish for a family for him where he can find security and safety. A family where he never has to leave because he is loved just as he is, even in old age. We are looking for an apartment with a balcony and an already existing cat. He looks forward to meeting you!10.02.2026Listen up, you have to get to know me! I am GANDALF. For eight years, I had a home – until I was suddenly given to an animal shelter due to a move. This was a big setback for me, and I wish to find a home that gives me stability. I am a large tomcat and currently a bit round, so good attention to my health is needed. The animal shelter stressed me a lot, but now I live in a foster home in Gröbenzell where I can relax. If you like, you can visit me there. With me, you get a quiet, cuddly best friend who gets along well with other cats. I am not pushy, but I enjoy closeness once I have built trust. If you want to give me this security, I look forward to you and will surely enrich your daily life with my loving nature!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About GANDALF

What life with GANDALF looks like

GANDALF is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Animal Help Espania in Odelzhausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting GANDALF, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GANDALF?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Help Espania handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GANDALF on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GANDALF if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Help Espania will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is GANDALF already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GANDALF isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Help Espania early rather than rehoming privately; they know GANDALF and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
