Gaz

Male · Senior · 12 years

Gaz is a small dog with a true terrier spirit. He’s energetic and always eager to play. Swimming in bodies of water and playing with toys are his absolute favorite activities. It’s important to remember, though, that after an energetic play session, you’ll need to provide him with scent-based activities to help him calm down. This will make him more peaceful and relaxed. He loves going for walks and needs a longer run every single day. His attitude toward other dogs is somewhat selective, but he generally manages to get along quite nicely with them. He rides in the car. No health issues have been identified. He’ll require some clear rules and boundaries, but he’ll repay you with boundless love. Potential challenges: He can sometimes become nervous if something catches him by surprise, so it’s crucial to respect his personal space and introduce new things gradually. Male visitors might not be particularly welcome. This is an issue we’d like to address, but unfortunately, we’re unable to do much more about it at the shelter. He’s comfortable with crate training, and it’s worth continuing this practice at home. He responds well to verbal praise, treats, and toys as motivators for training. We encourage you to seek the assistance of a behaviorist either during the adoption process or shortly after adopting Gaz. Gaz really enjoys spending time with people he feels connected to. He’s cheerful, affectionate, and when he gets tired, he’ll happily curl up on the couch beside you. “Here’s Gazik—the little wild one! He’d play all day long; he loves the ball, sometimes prefers a rope, and occasionally pees somewhere near the wall. He’s sweet, not mischievous, and although he’s getting on in years, he still has the energy of a puppy—Gazik, the little rascal!”

PL·Show original

Gaz to niewielki piesek z prawdziwą duszą teriera. Energiczny, zawsze chętny do zabawy. Kąpiele w zbiornikach wodnych i zabawki to jego żywioł. Warto przy tym pamiętać, że po energicznej zabawie, trzeba zapewnić mu zajęcia węchowe, które pomogą mu się wyciszyć. Będzie dzięki temu spokojniejszy i zrelaksowany. Spacery uwielbia i codziennie potrzebuje dłuższej przebieżki. Zna klatkę kennelową i warto to kontynuować w domu.

About Gaz

What life with Gaz looks like

Gaz is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
