How do I contact the shelter about Gennarino?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gennarino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Gennarino if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Gennarino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Gennarino isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gennarino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Gennarino

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Gennarino, a small, abandoned dog, was found alone in a small town in northern Sardinia. He had been searching for food and shelter for days until someone finally took pity on him and rescued him. The little dog was extremely weak and had no microchip, and no one in the town knew him. Someone had obviously just left him there. Fortunately, someone in the town knew our partners, Paola and Pierpaolo, and asked if they would take the poor dog in. Of course, they said yes. And as we saw for ourselves, Gennarino is now doing well. He is still a bit shy around strangers, but he is sweet and friendly. And he gets along great with the other dogs at the rescue. As always, the rescue is only a temporary home, as it cannot replace a real one. We hope that the lovable Gennarino will soon be able to travel to Germany to find his dream home for good.Would you like to adopt Gennarino and give him the chance to live a happy life with a close family? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption not only brings a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, we would be happy to hear from you.We place animals nationwide.Your contact person for this

About Gennarino

What life with Gennarino looks like

Gennarino is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
