Ghost

Male · Adult · 5 years

Ghost is looking for an active, loving home! Ghost is a roughly 5-year-old dog weighing about 15 kg. He was abandoned in the forest, yet despite everything he’s been through, he hasn’t lost his trust in humans. He’s a friendly, energetic dog who loves spending time by his guardian’s side. Ghost is an active pup who thrives on walks and any quality time spent with his human companion. He can follow the commands “sit” and “give paw,” and thanks to his strong motivation for treats, he learns new things very quickly. We’re looking for an active family for Ghost who can provide him with plenty of exercise, regular walks, and mentally stimulating activities. This dog craves human companionship and doesn’t like being bored. Left alone without adequate mental and physical stimulation, he might start destroying household items; therefore, his future guardian should pay close attention to both his physical and mental needs. WHEN ADOPTING, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LEASH AND COLLAR. The description is based on observations made at the shelter. Ghost is currently under the care of OTOZ Animals Shelter in Tczew. Shelter registration number: 160/26. The male dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered. For adoption inquiries, please call: 58 531 96 56

About Ghost

What life with Ghost looks like

Ghost is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ghost, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ghost?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ghost on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ghost if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ghost already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ghost isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ghost and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
