adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Gibby has found her place of grace! Her story: Gibby lived in Romania in a household. Unfortunately, her owner passed away, and when the house was sold, the three dogs living there were to be "sold with the house." Since the new owners did not want the dogs, the public shelter in Zalau was contacted. Sadly, they still euthanize here. Our local helpers learned of the sad story and could not bring themselves to move the dogs into the shelter. They now live in a private shelter in Zalau. Here, they are in unsightly runs, but they are safe and have the chance for a whole new family. One of them is Gibby. An approximately 13-year-old, wonderful female dog. She is friendly, gentle, and modest. Gibby loves being stroked, is not very active at her age, and enjoys every moment she spends outside of the run. Gibby can be put in a harness and also walks well on a leash. As she is very people-oriented and has already lived in a household, we assume she will integrate relatively uncomplicatedly into her new life. Gibby is compatible with other dogs. With a height of about 48 cm and 18 kg, she brings a great size with her. She has few remaining teeth and will soon have a vet appointment. With her large standing ears and her loyal gaze, she is an absolute eye-catcher optically. We wish Gibby a loving family that will care for her in her last years and give her a new life. Gibby will greatly enjoy leisurely excursions in nature and a cozy spot on the sofa. We only place animals with people who work with positive training methods. Gibby deserves to enjoy life again fully. Our Gibby is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She can travel with a positive EU pet passport. Due to her age, we would like to let her travel unspayed. Will you give Gibby a beautiful old age? Many thanks, Miriam S.! Your namesshipping was the starting gun for a new life! A big thank you also goes to Alexandra L., who took over a monthly namesshiping for Gibby. As of: 25.03.

Stand: 25.03.25

About Gibby

What life with Gibby looks like

Gibby is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gibby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gibby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gibby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gibby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gibby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gibby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gibby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
