Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male

Greyhound · Male

Hi everybody! I’m Gilbert. My personality: I’m the friendly greyhound with a heart of gold. Yep, I’m seven years young and ready to charm my way into your heart! I’m all about people! Seriously, I can’t get enough of them. Count me in, whether it’s snuggling on the couch or tagging along on adventures. Sometimes you might hear me barking a bit in the kennels. I just can’t help it, I love attention! The humans have even dubbed me the office dog because I bring so much joy wherever I go. I’m not a big player, but teddies? Oh, don’t get me started. They’re my absolute favourite. Give me a plush toy, and I’ll be entertained for ages. And let’s not forget about food. Treats are my weakness, and mealtime is the highlight of my day. When it’s playtime, I’m more of a laid-back kind of guy. A leisurely stroll and a tasty treat are right up my alley. The home I need: I’m looking for a home without too many comings or goings where I can settle down. I wouldn’t need experienced owners as I am a fairly easy boy to look after. As an ex-racing chap, I have a high prey drive so wouldn’t be able to live with small furries or cats. However, if you throw in another greyhound buddy, I’m sure we’ll be a dynamic duo in no time. I’m as friendly as they come: kids, adults, you name it, I’ll greet them all with a wagging tail and a big ol’ smile. Therefore, I wouldn’t mind living with children who would know when to give me my space if needed. When I first get to my new home, I would like it if my family was around most of the time, but once I am settled, I should be ok to be left for a couple of hours. Things to know: Now, about my manners. I’m a pro on the leash, but I do need to wear a muzzle because of my strong prey drive. My adoption fee is £250

About Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male

What life with Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male looks like

Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gilbert – 7 Year Old Male and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
