Adopt Gilda

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Jolie's puppy pack is a happy and lively group. Name0 and Jimmy share their “home” and Simba and Nala share theirs. Young couples spend their first months at the clinic in a special run with special staff – to ensure they receive the best possible care. They have their own small runs and also get to join the big playparks where they can run around and play with all the other young couples – and with other young couples. They also get to go for small walks in the field on a leash to get a little exercise. Here, they’ve met cats and all the couples have shown a friendly and playful attitude. The little ones are very attached to the staff who are their “heroes.” They easily get into a playful mood where they tumble around and try to get attention. All of them are incredibly friendly and love to play with their favorite people – and with all the toys in the playpark. Playtime abruptly ends when the storm is on the horizon. It’s just as nice to sleep in the grass in the playpark as at “home.” Since the couples are very young, they can’t be overexerted – the skeleton isn’t fully developed until they are about one year old. We are now looking for four homes for four busfrön – or perhaps some homes can offer a place for two? Homes should be in a quiet location, and since the couples are so young, someone should always be available for them. A sweet and happy doggy friend at home makes the transition easier as they provide company, safety, and act as a guide. No very young children at home. Always keep in mind that these little ones have a different background and should therefore never be pressured – in new environments and among new people. Background: During the February spayathon (castration campaign), staff from SaveTheDogs went to the villages and picked up dogs. In an empty area, they suddenly found five little puppies – mother Jolie with the couples Name0, Jimmy, Simba, and Nala. There was neither food nor water available in the area.

About Gilda

What life with Gilda looks like

Gilda is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
