Gill &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

Gill must unfortunately be surrendered because her former owner fell seriously ill and is permanently in the hospital. She is currently living with her former owner's son. However, there are already three dogs and young children living there, which is too much for the senior dog in the long term. She may stay there, though, until she finds a new home. Gill is people-oriented, friendly, and open. She gets along well with fellow animals. Gill needs people who can attend to her needs and give her lots of love and patience. An quieter household, perhaps with older people, would be ideal for her. Gill is vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for rehoming. If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet her uncommitted, please apply using the button below, and we will get in touch with you soon. We appreciate your understanding if the processing of your inquiry takes a little longer. We will do our best to provide a response as soon as possible. However, it may happen that we receive many inquiries at once or that our resources are temporarily needed elsewhere.

DE·Show original

About Gill &#8211

What life with Gill &#8211 looks like

Gill &#8211 is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gill &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gill &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gill &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gill &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gill &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gill &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gill &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
