adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Gimli has found a home! His story: FluffyBärchen Gimli is searching for his human. Gimli, Pandabärli, and Lia – three little siblings who were dropped off at the shelter without their mother. No one knows where they came from or how they survived their first weeks of life. What is certain is that these three little souls had only each other, and their close bond helped them get through the toughest times. Since their arrival at the shelter, they have slowly learned that there are also kind people who can be trusted. Gimli is about four months old and will grow to be medium-sized. With his soft, brown fur, fluffy face, and timid nature, he reminds one of a small bear trying to navigate a much too large world. At first, Gimli shows a bit of shyness, but once he realizes that people mean him well, he warms up – cautiously at first, then more boldly – and shows his loving, clingy side. In a familiar environment, he likes to play, seek the closeness of his siblings, and enjoy when someone speaks kindly to him. Since Gimli has only known life at the shelter, everything in his future home is new to him. He needs to learn the entire dog ABC: house training, leash walking, car rides, everyday noises, visitors, different substrates – he hasn't experienced any of these yet. He needs people who can show him what a loving family life looks like and give him the time to settle in and trust. With patience, security, and a good dose of love, Gimli will grow into a dog who clings very closely to his human. Like with all young dogs, puberty is on the horizon for Gimli – the phase where little bears become braver, test out rules, and sometimes push the limits. Whoever guides Gimli through this time with calm, loving consistency, offers clear structures, and perhaps attends positive dog training classes, lays the foundation for a stable bond and harmonious coexistence. Gimli wants to learn, he wants to please – he just needs someone to show him how. Gimli travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and with an EU pet passport to his new home. The adoption fee is 500 Euros. Many thanks to Fran! You gave Gimli his special name! As of: 21.11. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Fran! Du hast Gimli seinen besonderen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 21.11.2025

About Gimli

What life with Gimli looks like

Gimli is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gimli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gimli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gimli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gimli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gimli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gimli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gimli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
