Gin und Ginko

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 15 years

Gin (green-yellow) and Ginko (yellow): For these two canary ladies, we are looking for sponsors who would like to support us financially. Canaries need a lot of movement, so they should have a large aviary and daily several-hour free flight. Since canaries can only express their social behavior in a group, they should be kept at least as a pair, preferably in groups of at least four birds. Also, it should be considered that these birds can live up to 12, sometimes 15 years. If you are interested in this animal, send us an email with the completed self-disclosure form. The responsible colleague will then arrange a visit with you.

About Gin und Ginko

What life with Gin und Ginko looks like

Gin und Ginko is a large senior mixed breed bird waiting at Tierheim Landkreis Freising in Germany.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gin und Ginko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gin und Ginko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Landkreis Freising handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gin und Ginko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gin und Ginko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Landkreis Freising will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gin und Ginko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gin und Ginko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Landkreis Freising early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gin und Ginko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
