Gina

Mixed Breed · Female

Gina is a nearly seven-year-old (as of April 2025), purebred Malinois female dog that was previously used as a breeding dog. But now she finally gets to lead a carefree dog life after being given up from the breeding because she is no longer suitable for breeding. Gina hasn't seen much of the world yet, but she is full of curiosity and temperament, ready to enjoy life to the fullest. Even at the animal shelter, Gina has shown how affectionate and friendly she is, especially to children. Her friendly nature and open-mindedness make her a perfect family dog. Children are the most important to Gina, and she loves playing and spending time with them. She shows an incredible gratitude and joy when she receives attention and affection. Gina has adapted well to life at the animal shelter and gets along splendidly with the other dogs. But in her own home, she would like to live as a single dog. Although she hasn't seen much, Gina can quickly be excited by new impressions. She is very curious and eager to learn, making her an ideal candidate for further training in dog training classes. Her temperament and energy are always well-controlled, as she listens well and is leash-trained. This means that walks with Gina are relaxed and pleasant, as she is attentive and people-oriented. Gina's new family should be ready to show her the world and allow her to experience all the beautiful things she has missed. Shared adventures, long walks, and exciting experiences will help Gina bloom in her new life. Gina eagerly awaits the chance to find her own home where she will be loved and cared for, take responsibility for her people, and make up for what she was denied as a constant mother.

DE·Show original

About Gina

What life with Gina looks like

Gina is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
