Ginger

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Ginger - a small dog girl with great potential is looking for her soulmates. Ginger is currently staying at the animal shelter together with her mom Millie and her siblings - right in the middle of the joyful puppy chaos of playing, running around, cuddling, and exploring. Day by day, the little mouse shows how much joy, curiosity, and potential she has. Although this time is sweet and carefree, for Ginger we wish for one thing above all: a home of her own where she can arrive and grow into the dog she is meant to be. Ginger, like her siblings, is not just a cute puppy. With a Border Collie mix mom and possibly a Malinois dad, she probably has excellent prerequisites for intelligence, enthusiasm for learning, sensitivity, and a drive for movement. This means: Ginger is looking for people who know that a sweet puppy will one day become a wise, active companion who needs both physical and mental stimulation. Responsible people are needed who are willing to invest time, patience, training, and love into a young dog's life - not just for the first few weeks, but for the next hopefully 15 years. Ginger wants to discover the world, learn, understand, and grow through life with her humans. Puppies mean work, patience, and sometimes chaos. But they also mean the unique opportunity to shape a small raw diamond into a wonderful companion. Ginger is not looking for a temporary home, but for people who consciously choose this adventure - with everything that comes with it. Who will give this charming little dog security, guidance, and a loving home for an entire dog's life? Ginger would also be very happy about a foster home. Here are Ginger's videos: Video 1 Video 2

DE·Show original

About Ginger

What life with Ginger looks like

Ginger is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ginger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ginger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ginger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ginger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ginger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ginger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ginger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
