Gino

Male · Adult · 4 years

Gino will give you all the love and companionship you could ask for – he just needs someone willing to give him the chance to shine. Whilst in our care, we have had to remove Gino's tail due to essential medical reasons. Tail docking is illegal in the UK, except for essential medical reasons or for certain breeds of working dogs. We are against unnecessary tail docking and do not condone it. Gino is a fun loving boy who lives for playtime – especially when it involves his favourite soft toy. He’s a lively lad with lots of bounce, so he’d be best suited to a home with children aged 14 and over who won’t get overwhelmed by his enthusiasm. Gino would love an active family who can help him burn off his energy with walks, games, and plenty of enrichment. Gino has come into us with no home history so time left on his own will need to be built up gradually, and he’ll appreciate having toys or activities to keep him busy while you're out. A garden would be a big bonus for him too – he’d love a safe space to explore, play, and relax in the fresh air. Gino is looking to be the only pet in the home with patient adopters who can help him work on his socialisation - he can find meeting dogs a little frustrating, but is working really hard on making friends. He is also learning to wear a muzzle when out in busy areas and with all the tasty treats he's getting he's really loving learning new things!

About Gino

What life with Gino looks like

Gino is a large adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires gradual socialization with dogs, muzzle training for busy areas, needs to build up alone time tolerance

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
