Gino is a chihuahua male aged about 2 years . He came into the pound in poor condition - hairless with staining on his legs and rear end from being kept in poor conditions as well as sore eyes - but after some vet care and lots of tlc he is now thriving. Gino is a smart and sweet little guy. He is quite a social guy and is good with other dogs and seems fine with cats too. He ideally needs an adult home or one with teenagers. He can go to a home with or without another dog and ideally where there is someone around most of the time. He needs ongoing work with lead training but has improved a lot in the few short weeks he has been with us. He is crate trained and sleeps happily in his crate all night. He is doing well with house training but any new owners will need to be prepared to continue with this. will be an adult home (or with teenagers) will have someone home most of the time will be committed to her ongoing training (house training and lead training as well as a general commitment to training) and enrichment Will have a secure garden or other area for toileting and general moochig around Gino is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped (972274001455009). About Gino

What life with Gino looks like

Gino is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A Dog in Glenmore.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Gino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A Dog handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A Dog will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A Dog early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
