Adopt Woody

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Woody is about 7 years old and a small terrier……and boy is this guy ALL terrier! Although a more mature dog, Woody has plenty of life in him and will enjoy sniffing and chasing critters before settling down close to you while you work. He came into our care requiring some medical treatment but is now in good health. He requires ongoing medication and care but this will continue to be provided by A Dog’s Life. Woody is looking for a home in a quiet area with secure outdoor space for terrier antics! He will enjoy plenty of pottering but will have no need for long walks. He can live as an only dog or with a mature, larger female. He needs a home with no other pets eg cats. He is sweet, gentle and friendly with all people and loves his grub, chews and teddies. He travels well in the car and is happy to settle in a crate and when alone. He is not cuddly but likes to be close to you and would work well with someone retired who wants a companion while gardening or catching up on the crossword or someone who works from home as he is happy to settle while you work. About Woody

What life with Woody looks like

Woody is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at A Dog in Glenmore.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Woody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Woody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A Dog handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Woody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Woody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A Dog will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Woody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Woody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A Dog early rather than rehoming privately; they know Woody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
