GIORGIO

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 9 months

Brought up from Sicily through a reservation, deeply desired—and then dumped like a package. He was at risk of being sent back south. Transferred to a holding facility, after just one week the person who had been caring for him no longer felt able to manage him, and so here we are: another abandonment for him! Giorgio is living his life without a clearly defined future, not knowing whether he’ll still be here tomorrow or will have to return south! GIORGIO DESERVES LOVE, STABILITY, AND A FAMILY FOR LIFE!! Very sweet, compatible with other dogs; initially slightly shy, but after the abandonments he needs to rebuild trust. He has a strong desire to run and play. ☑️ He will be placed in a home with a proper adoption form, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. ☑️ We offer post-adoption visits. ☑️ Sterilization is mandatory.

About GIORGIO

What life with GIORGIO looks like

GIORGIO is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Dimensione Animale Bergamo in Italy.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting GIORGIO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GIORGIO?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dimensione Animale Bergamo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GIORGIO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GIORGIO if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dimensione Animale Bergamo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is GIORGIO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GIORGIO isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dimensione Animale Bergamo early rather than rehoming privately; they know GIORGIO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
