We are looking for a home that knows that an Akita is more than just exceptional beauty - it's above all a deep bond based on mutual respect and consistent leadership. Giro is a medal student - clearly had prior exposure to training. Knows commands and gladly cooperates, which greatly facilitates joint activities. Loves long walks and play with the human. As befits an Akita, he doesn't rush into anyone's arms. At first meeting, he can be distrustful and may bark at a stranger. Needs a moment to assess if a person is worthy of his trust. In relation to other dogs, he remains neutral. We are constantly monitoring his reactions in different situations, but so far his composure indicates a promising foundation for further socialization. Giro is not a dog for everyone. He is a dog with a character who can stand his ground and test how much he can afford. We are looking for a caregiver who understands the specifics of the breed and understands the independence and stubbornness of the Akita, is consistent, can set boundaries and respects the dog's space.
