Adopt Gisela

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Friendly, playful, compatible VIDEO The small Gisela came to the animal shelter as part of a sterilization campaign in October 2025. She has already been through a lot in her young life. She survived a distemper infection and probably also some scares on the street. Life on the street is hard, especially as a puppy. She remains somewhat reserved around men. She is also cautious with strange dogs at first. But she quickly makes friends and is kind to everyone. In particular, Gisela loves cuddles. Gisela will grow into a big dog and still have a long way to go. Her hips were X-rayed and are unremarkable. Gisela is still a little dog girl, but there is a real herding dog in Gisela. Already now, Gisela barks at everything that really scares her. Just like a proper herding dog has in its genes. Therefore, one should have some experience with this type of dog. The typical behaviors of a herding dog must be guided into proper channels, because otherwise the dog takes control and that does not always work out. But Gisela is still young and looks forward to learning together. So she is looking for a good mix of cuddles and consistency. Even though it is hard to say no to this sweet face. But then you get a loyal companion who gives back at least as much love. Who would like to give Gisela a home and the necessary security? All are vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog placed makes room for one of those dogs that have to struggle through life hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Gisela

What life with Gisela looks like

Gisela is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gisela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gisela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gisela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gisela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gisela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gisela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gisela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
