Gizmo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Gizmo is an active, playful and very friendly little male dog, full of curiosity and eager to discover the world. He is open and very friendly towards people. He also gets along well with other dogs and is social. This brings him many good prerequisites for his later life as a family dog. Gizmo is currently about 4 months old. With his current weight of about 4 kg, he is still a small puppy in the middle of his development. It is currently not possible to say reliably how big he will be. Gizmo currently lives with our helper Raluca in Zalau. There he is housed in a secure area outdoors and lives together with about 25 other dogs in a larger dog group. In this community, he can gain important experience in dealing with his fellow dogs and shows himself friendly and tolerant. Living in the dog group offers him security and social contacts - but of course, this cannot replace living in a home and growing up in a family. Gizmo is also already practicing walking on a leash. Of course, he is still at the beginning and has to learn many things. Housebreaking, leash training, new sounds and situations, staying alone and the many small rules of family life are things he has to learn in his new home. With patience, loving consistency and positive reinforcement, Gizmo can grow into a secure companion step by step. His start in life was unfortunately anything but sheltered: Gizmo was found together with his brother in an abandoned building. At that time, the two little puppies were starving, dehydrated and infested with fleas. Fortunately, they were found and brought to safety. Nothing further is known about their origin and their life before. Now Gizmo wants to leave his past behind. We wish the little dog people who enjoy accompanying him as he grows up. A puppy brings a lot of joy and life into the house, but it also needs time, patience, peace and loving upbringing. Gizmo wants to play, discover and learn - and at the same time he must first understand how life in a family works. Whoever decides for Gizmo gets no finished dog, but a young dog who still has a lot to learn and develop his personality. For this, he brings a wonderful foundation: he is friendly, active, playful and social. Now he needs people who give him security, lead him patiently into his new daily life and enjoy discovering the world with him. Gizmo travels chipped, dewormed and de-loused with his own EU pet passport. Age-appropriate, Gizmo is not yet neutered.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Gizmo

What life with Gizmo looks like

Gizmo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gizmo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gizmo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gizmo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gizmo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gizmo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gizmo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gizmo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
