Glen and Gus

Male · Adult · 7 years

I’m Glen, the sandy-coloured Lurcher, and beside me is my best friend Gus, the black and white Whippet. We’ve been together since Gus was a puppy (he’s a little younger than me at 4 years old), and we’re looking for a loving home where we can stay together. I’m the quieter one of the pair. I enjoy a comfy spot to stretch out, plenty of cuddles, and I’ll never say no to a tasty treat. People describe me as easy-going, chilled and loving. Gus is a little different! He’s the fun-loving one who gets excited about life, especially walks, balls, tuggy toys and seeing his favourite people. He can be quite enthusiastic when saying hello and may jump up to greet you, but he’s also incredibly affectionate and has a big heart. Most of all, he loves me. Together, we enjoy stretching our legs on walks before coming home for cuddles and a snooze. We’re looking for experienced owners who can give us the exercise, companionship and understanding we need. We’d like to be the only pets in the home, could live with children aged 5+, and would love a secure, private garden with plenty of room for two dogs. Gus is particularly fond of the occasional zoomie session! Once we’ve settled into our new home, we’re happy being left for a few hours. What we’d really love, though, is a family who will welcome us both into their hearts. We’ve shared our lives for years, and we can’t imagine starting our next chapter apart. ❤️ Could you be the family we’re waiting for? Please apply now to adopt us! About Glen and Gus

What life with Glen and Gus looks like

Glen and Gus is a large adult dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Glen and Gus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Glen and Gus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Glen and Gus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Glen and Gus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Glen and Gus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Glen and Gus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Glen and Gus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
