adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Glija has found its home! Her story: Baia Mare, Romania. Glija is searching for a home. Glija is one of many dogs under our care who are often overlooked. Glija had to fight for survival on the streets for years. We don't know what she experienced there. Glija is estimated to be around 7 years old and has already passed her wild years. With a shoulder height of about 45 cm, she belongs to the medium-sized dogs. She is blind in her right eye, but this doesn't seem to bother her. Initially shy, Glija can now be approached. She even allowed a harness to be put on and was taken out of her kennel. She gets along well with other dogs, but at the moment, it is not possible to approach Glija. Glija is looking for dog-experienced people who can teach her the life of a family and a household with patience, perseverance, and calmness. Even though she is warming up in the shelter now, it should be assumed that she will need time to settle into her new home. We are looking for a quiet rural home for Glija, with few distractions and a few trusted people. Children could be too much of a disturbance for her.

About Glija

What life with Glija looks like

Glija is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Glija, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Glija?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Glija on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Glija if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Glija already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Glija isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Glija and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
