Gloria

Mixed Breed · Female · 2 years

Gloria is a sweet girl with a big heart. She loves being with the people who can give her cuddles, new toys, and of course fill her food bowl. Gloria is best suited for a home with older children or without children. Gloria is adopted as an outdoor cat and needs access to good and safe outdoor possibilities. I am a social and very attention-seeking cat who is looking for my forever home now. I love cuddles and can be easily lifted and carried, and I even find myself comfortable on your lap if you sit down. Cuddles are great all over my body, but the best is definitely cuddles on my head. I like to sleep next to you in bed at night, and if you're afraid of oversleeping, there's no risk at all when you have me in the house - because I've learned the time and always wake you up 30 minutes before your alarm goes off. Then you'll have time to give me breakfast before you do anything else. I'm quite food-oriented, so the foster home I was in tried different things to get me to slow down when I eat. One day they set up a mat tower, but of course I found out quickly, and within seconds my eating speed was almost the same again. Now my food is portioned, and I get several small meals a day, so I at least don't eat as much at once. But you shouldn't think I'm less lively just because I'm food-oriented, no! There's full speed when some toys come out. I really like balls and like to pretend I'm a four-legged soccer player chasing big balls. Otherwise, it's also very fun with fishing rod toys, especially if you pull them up along the cat tree or climbing tree. When you have visitors, I'm curious and want to greet them, because they might have some treats, but if there are more new faces, I get a little nervous and back off a bit. Apart from that, I want attention almost all the time, and if you have to do something in another room, I sit outside the closed door waiting for you. I'm quite tough girl, so for example, I'm not afraid of the vacuum cleaner, but it's probably still okay to be a little skeptical? I'm also very easy to put in the transport box, and driving doesn't bother me at all. The only thing I don't like is when we drive through tunnels, because then there's such a strange sound.

About Gloria

What life with Gloria looks like

Gloria is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: One eye tears - needs regular cleaning, requires outdoor access

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gloria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gloria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gloria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gloria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gloria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gloria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gloria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
