Gobert

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Gobert, a sweet and gentle dog, comes from the town of Lajosmizse, Hungary. He was wandering alone and was caught by the local animal welfare officer and taken to the fire station's kennel. Unfortunately, no microchip was found, as is often the case. Gobert was posted on various Facebook pages, asking his owner to contact the fire department in Lajosmizse, but no one claimed him. Therefore, he was transferred to the responsible animal shelter in Kecskemét on August 31, 2026. Gobert would love to leave the kennel life behind. It is already quite chilly at night, and Gobert would be much better off in a cozy bed in a warm room with his human family. We are keeping our fingers crossed that Gobert will not have to spend the coming winter outside, but rather in a loving home. Gobert was initially shy, which is understandable, given the difficult animal shelter situation. He probably didn't know that he would receive love and attention. However, he is slowly warming up to it and enjoys being pampered with affection and attention. He never wants to miss this and has a lot of catching up to do. He has already given his heart to the people he knows, but it takes a few minutes for him to realize that strangers mean well. Even though there is a hint of sadness around him, he is a friendly and nice little guy who is easy to love. Gobert still needs to learn a few things about dog etiquette, but he will quickly understand how things work and catch up on what he has missed. He already walks well on a leash, but there is still room for improvement. Practice makes perfect, as they say. He is curious about the big, wide world outside and wants to explore it step by step with his new family. He is looking forward to many beautiful hours with his new family. Gobert has no problems with his fellow dogs and is currently being integrated into a mixed pack (as of September 23, 2026). Our enchanting Gobert longingly wishes for a peaceful home with empathetic and loving people who he can trust and who will give him the security, care, love, and safety he so desperately needs. A soft bed, many cuddles, nice walks, dog- and age-appropriate activities, and his own people who will never leave him behind - and Gobert can finally enjoy a dignified and worry-free life. He no longer wants to be a shelter dog, but wants to belong and arrive. Who has a heart for Gobert? Gobert still has a few health checks to go through. There is a suspicion of patella and hip luxation on the left side. An update will follow. Gobert can travel from around mid/late October 2026 if he finds a home or foster family.

About Gobert

What life with Gobert looks like

Gobert is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gobert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gobert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gobert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gobert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gobert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gobert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gobert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
