Roy-5

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

Origin Country: Spain Roy came to us when he was just two weeks old. We received a call: His mother had wandered into the mountains and had hidden her puppies in a sort of fox den deep underground for safety. Ten tiny puppy siblings, hidden from the world. Immediately, we set out to help. Gently, we rescued one puppy after another from the den and took them into our arms. After that, the next challenge was to catch the mother with a humane trap. She was very frightened, but with patience and care, we managed to secure her. Today, she is doing well and has reunited with her little ones at the animal shelter. The mother was named Romy and is likely a mix of German Shepherd/Galgo/Podenco. Since the puppies had early contact with humans, they have grown up well-socialized. They are loving, playful, and open to their environment. They have also learned to walk on a leash, and they do so remarkably well for their young age. Roy is no exception. He is a gentle, little dog with a particularly affectionate nature. Clever and eager to learn, he quickly grasps new things and shows great interest in everything around him. He is cuddly, enjoys closeness and affection, and loves playing with his siblings. Now, the puppy group has been separated, and Roy lives with an adult male dog. He likes this very much and runs, plays, and explores the world together. Of course, as a young puppy, he sometimes gets into mischief, but that’s part of it. Above all, however, Roy is a true heart dog: a happy, social, and gentle companion ready for a loving home where he can continue to grow and flourish. For our Roy, we are looking for loving people who will accompany him on his journey and provide him with a stable environment. Outgoing dog lovers who are aware of what it means and entails to adopt a young puppy and the long-term responsibility it requires. Puppy/dog training classes, full family integration, many cuddles, exciting and varied walks, dog- and age-appropriate stimulation. Currently, Roy is too young for a castration, which his new owners will need to complete when he is old enough.

About Roy-5

What life with Roy-5 looks like

Roy-5 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roy-5, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roy-5?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roy-5 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roy-5 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roy-5 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roy-5 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roy-5 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
