Adopt Goliat

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Goliat arrived at our shelter on 09.02.2026. A huge German Shepherd-type dog. Strong as a tank. Big as a bear. When he came to us, he had a chunk of his lip bitten off. But you know what? That didn't take away from his dignity at all. On the contrary – he looks like a warrior who has fought his battle… and yet, he still trusts humans. Because the greatest superpower of the underdog isn't his strength. Nor are his size and build. His true superpower is: LOVING HUMANS DESPITE EVERYTHING. This big guy has as much tenderness as he weighs. He loves people, seeks closeness, walks, and shared time. On a leash, he does really well – proud, calm, and ready to walk the world by his human's side. He doesn't get along with other dogs, so he would best find his place as the only dog hero in a home. But people, he adores with his entire huge heart. Goliat is already neutered and dreams most of having his own home. One where no one will judge him for the missing chunk of his lip. Because true heroes aren't perfect – they're extraordinary.

Goliat trafił do nas 09.02.2026 r. Ogromny pies w typie owczarka niemieckiego. Silny jak czołg. Wielki jak niedźwiedź. Kiedy do nas przyjechał, miał odgryziony kawałek wargi. Uwielbia ludzi, szuka bliskości, spacerów i wspólnego czasu. To właśnie jeden z nich

About Goliat

What life with Goliat looks like

Goliat is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Konin in Poland.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goliat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goliat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Konin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goliat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goliat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Konin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goliat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goliat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Konin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goliat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
