Our unneutered Chihuahua, Gollum, came to our animal shelter as part of a seizure. He was born around 2023 and currently weighs 2.9 kg with a shoulder height of approximately 20 cm. Gollum is a very people-oriented and affectionate little dog who forms strong bonds with his caregivers. He loves cuddling, is playful, and thoroughly enjoys being close to his humans. With other dogs, he gets along well—provided he’s properly supervised and depending on mutual compatibility. Towards strangers, he initially appears shy and reserved. Gollum still has much to learn about basic dog manners, including staying alone, house training, fundamental obedience, leash walking, and relaxed car rides. He quickly becomes overwhelmed and often reacts hysterically in new or stressful situations. Therefore, he needs a calm, patient, and understanding home where he can gradually gain confidence. Additionally, Gollum is prone to barking and reliably alerts to the presence of strangers as well as unfamiliar noises. As a Chihuahua, Gollum unfortunately carries the breed-typical health risks associated with unethical breeding practices. These include potential issues with the eyes, teeth, kneecaps, spine, and brain. Moreover, Gollum is epileptic and requires lifelong medication. Unser unkastrierter Chihuahua Gollum kam im Rahmen einer Sicherstellung zu uns ins Tierheim. Er wurde etwa im Jahr 2023 geboren und wiegt derzeit 2,9 kg bei einer Schulterhöhe von rund 20 cm. Gollum ist ein sehr menschenbezogener und anhänglicher kleiner Hund, der zu seinen Bezugspersonen eine enge Bindung aufbaut. Er ist verschmust, verspielt und genießt die Nähe seiner Menschen. Mit Artgenossen ist er unter Anleitung und je nach Sympathie verträglich. Fremden gegenüber zeigt er sich zunächst schüchtern und zurückhaltend. Gollum muss das komplette Hunde Einmaleins noch lernen. Dazu gehören das Alleinebleiben, die Stubenreinheit, die Grunderziehung, die Leinenführigkeit sowie das entspannte Autofahren. Er ist schnell überfordert und reagiert in neuen oder stressigen Situationen häufig hysterisch. Deshalb braucht er ein ruhiges, geduldiges und verständnisvolles Zuhause, in dem er Schritt für Schritt Sicherheit gewinnen kann. Zudem ist Gollum bellfreudig und meldet zuverlässig fremde Menschen sowie ungewohnte Geräusche. Als Chihuahua bringt Gollum leider die rassetypischen gesundheitlichen Risiken einer Qualzucht mit sich. Dazu zählen mögliche Probleme mit den Augen, den Zähnen, den Kniescheiben, der Wirbelsäule und dem Gehirn. Zudem ist Gollum Epileptiker und benötigt dauerhaft Medikamente.
